Kajabi is the all-in-one platform where creators build courses, memberships, and digital businesses. No coding. No stitching together 10 different tools. One platform for your website, courses, email marketing, payments, and community. It processes over $8 billion in creator revenue. Tiger Global invested $550 million at a $2 billion valuation. Kajabi proved that the creator economy isn't just a trend — it's a business category worth billions.

kajabi.comTHE ORIGIN STORY
Kenny Rueter and Travis Rosser were running an agency building websites for entrepreneurs when they noticed a pattern: every client wanted the same thing — a way to sell courses and digital products online without hiring a developer. The tools available in 2010 were fragmented: you needed one tool for your website, another for courses, another for email, another for payments.
Rueter and Rosser built Kajabi to be the all-in-one solution. One platform to build a website, create courses, manage memberships, send emails, process payments, and run a business.
They bootstrapped for years before becoming profitable, then took Tiger Global's $550 million investment to scale.
WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO
Kajabi charges monthly subscriptions ranging from $149/month (Basic) to $399/month (Pro). Creators build their entire digital business on the platform — courses, coaching programs, memberships, communities, podcasts, and newsletters.
Kajabi does not take a percentage of creator revenue — it's a flat subscription. This means creators keep 100% of their sales (minus payment processing).
Revenue comes purely from subscriptions, which creates predictable, recurring revenue.
THE PRODUCTS
Kajabi's platform includes a website builder, online course creator, membership site builder, email marketing tools, sales pipeline and funnel builder, community features, podcast hosting, payment processing, and analytics dashboard. Kajabi University provides education for creators.
Their mobile app allows creators to manage their business on the go. Over $8 billion in total creator revenue has been processed through the platform.
HOW THEY GREW
Kajabi grew through the success of its creators. When a creator builds a million-dollar course business on Kajabi and talks about it publicly, other creators want to know what platform they used.
The company has an active community of "Kajabi Heroes" (creators earning over $1M on the platform) who evangelize the product. They also market aggressively through digital advertising, affiliate programs, and partnerships with influencers and business coaches who use Kajabi to host their own content.
THE HARD PART
Competition from Teachable, Thinkific, Podia, and increasingly from all-in-one platforms like Circle and Mighty Networks is intense. Kajabi's higher price point ($149-399/month) means it needs to deliver substantially more value than cheaper alternatives.
The creator economy is also fickle — most creators don't succeed, which means high churn among newer users who can't build a sustainable business. Scaling from small creators to enterprise customers requires different product capabilities.

WHO BACKED THEM
Tiger Global led the $550 million investment round that valued Kajabi at $2 billion. Before that, Kajabi was bootstrapped and profitable.
The Tiger Global round was notable because Kajabi had already proven its model without venture capital — the investment was for acceleration, not survival. The company has remained based in Irvine, California, rather than relocating to Silicon Valley.
