Eruditus partners with 80+ top universities to offer executive education and degree programs to working professionals. They've enrolled over 350,000 students across 80 countries. It's not a MOOC where you watch free lectures and never finish. These are $10,000-$50,000 programs with real completion rates. Ashwin Damera was working in consulting and realized that executive education was broken. Top universities had incredible content but terrible distribution.
Working professionals wanted Harvard credentials but couldn't take two years off. In 2010, Damera and Chaitanya Kalipatnapu founded Eruditus in Mumbai to bridge that gap.
They started by partnering with one or two schools, offering short executive programs online. The key insight: universities had the brand and content, but no idea how to reach or serve online learners at scale.
Eruditus handled everything — marketing, enrollment, student support, platform technology — and split the revenue with the university.
WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO
Revenue share with universities. Eruditus partners with 80+ top institutions (MIT, Harvard, Wharton, INSEAD, Columbia) to deliver executive education programs online.
Students pay $5,000-$80,000 per program. Eruditus handles marketing, enrollment, student experience, and technology.
The university provides the brand, faculty, and curriculum. Revenue is split between Eruditus and the partner university.
THE PRODUCTS
Executive Programs — short (3-6 month) online programs from top universities. Degree Programs — full master's degrees delivered online through university partners.
Custom Programs — corporate training built with university partners for specific companies.
HOW THEY GREW
University partnership flywheel. Each new prestigious university partner makes Eruditus more attractive to the next one.
MIT signing on convinced Harvard. Harvard convinced Wharton.
The brand collection became the moat. They also expanded from short courses to full degree programs, increasing lifetime value per student from $10K to $50K+.
THE HARD PART
Competition from Coursera, edX, and universities building their own online programs. If top schools decide to go direct, Eruditus loses its middleman position.
Also, the $10K-$80K price point limits the market to affluent professionals — they can't serve the mass market the way cheaper platforms can.
