GRAIN

Netfigo Verdict
on Grain

Grain does one thing and does it well: it records your video calls, pulls out the moments that actually mattered, and makes them shareable in seconds. In a world where the average knowledge worker sits through 21 hours of meetings per week, that is genuinely useful. The product is clean, the pitch is obvious, and the go-to-market is smart — every shared Grain clip is a marketing impression. The crowded meeting intelligence market is the real risk. Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams are all adding native summaries. Grain has to keep building faster than the platforms it runs on top of.

THE ORIGIN STORY

Mike Adams started Grain after watching teams repeatedly struggle to remember what was actually decided in meetings — and watching those decisions get relitigated a week later because nobody had written anything down. He built a simple recording tool.

Then added AI-powered highlights. Then deep integrations with Slack, HubSpot, and Notion.

The product grew organically around the problem, shaped by how sales and customer success teams actually work.

WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO

SaaS subscription. Free tier with limited recording minutes and storage.

Paid plans for teams who need unlimited recordings, CRM integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce), shared workspaces, and custom branding. Revenue comes from seat-based team plans, with higher-tier packages for large sales organizations.

THE PRODUCTS

Grain for Teams (meeting recording, AI highlights, and searchable notes), Grain for Sales (CRM-integrated call intelligence with deal-context tagging), and a Chrome extension for in-browser recording across any video platform.

HOW THEY GREW

Product-led growth. When a user shares a Grain clip — in a Slack message, an email, a Notion doc — the recipient sees the product in action.

That shared clip is a discovery moment. Teams adopt Grain bottom-up, one user at a time, before a purchasing decision is ever made.

Deep HubSpot and Salesforce integrations hook sales teams with strong budget and high switching costs.

THE HARD PART

The platforms Grain depends on are building competitive features. Zoom launched AI summaries.

Google Meet added transcription. Microsoft Copilot handles the same job inside Teams.

Grain has to remain meaningfully better than free features shipped by companies with billions in R&D budgets, or find a workflow niche those platforms cannot easily replicate.
