MULTIPLIER

Netfigo Verdict
on Multiplier

Multiplier is the Singapore-based answer to Deel and Remote, betting that Asia-Pacific companies need a global EOR platform built for their time zones and compliance requirements. Sagar Khatri raised $93 million to build a platform that lets APAC companies hire globally — or global companies hire in APAC. In a market where everyone is fighting over Silicon Valley startups, Multiplier is quietly winning the rest of the world.

THE ORIGIN STORY

Sagar Khatri was an India-born entrepreneur who’d previously built and sold tech companies. He noticed that while Deel and Remote were dominating the Western EOR market, Asia-Pacific companies had limited options for global hiring platforms designed for their regulatory environments.

He founded Multiplier in Singapore in 2020, focusing initially on helping APAC companies hire internationally. The timing was perfect — APAC’s tech ecosystem was booming and companies there were hiring globally at unprecedented rates.

WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO

Standard EOR model: Multiplier acts as the legal employer for international hires, handling contracts, payroll, benefits, and compliance. Monthly per-employee fee.

They cover 150+ countries.

Their differentiation is APAC expertise. They understand the employment laws of Singapore, India, Indonesia, Japan, and other APAC markets more deeply than Western competitors.

THE PRODUCTS

Employer of Record in 150+ countries. Multi-country payroll processing.

Contractor management. Benefits administration tailored to APAC markets.

Compliance monitoring with APAC-specific expertise.

HOW THEY GREW

Multiplier grew by being the best option for Asia-Pacific based companies. They partnered with APAC-focused VC firms, accelerators, and tech communities.

Word-of-mouth within Singapore’s startup ecosystem was powerful. They also expanded into the Middle East and Africa, regions underserved by Western competitors.

THE HARD PART

The same market crowding as every other EOR company. Deel’s massive war chest and aggressive pricing makes competition brutal.

Multiplier’s smaller funding ($93M vs Deel’s $679M) means they need to be more capital-efficient.
