When everyone went remote and started accessing company data from their couch over a VPN that barely worked, Netskope was already there with the fix. It built the security layer between users and the cloud — inspecting every SaaS login, every file download, every web request — when the old firewall became as useful as a screen door on a submarine. It raised $1.4 billion privately, then went public on the Nasdaq in September 2025 at a $7.3 billion valuation and jumped 18% on day one. One of the most important cybersecurity companies most people have never heard of, and now anyone can buy a share of it.

netskope.comTHE ORIGIN STORY
Sanjay Beri spent 15 years at Juniper Networks and Palo Alto Networks, watching enterprise security struggle with the shift to cloud. Traditional firewalls protected a physical network perimeter, but when employees started using Salesforce, Box, and AWS from their laptops at home, the perimeter evaporated.
Beri founded Netskope in 2012 to build security for a perimeter-less world. The company was early to the SASE category — a term Gartner coined in 2019 that validated exactly what Netskope had been building for seven years.
WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO
Netskope is a SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) company — it secures everything that happens between users and the cloud. When employees access SaaS apps, cloud storage, or websites, Netskope sits in the middle inspecting traffic, enforcing policies, and blocking threats.
Their platform combines cloud access security broker (CASB), secure web gateway, zero trust network access, and data loss prevention into one product. Subscription-based, priced per user per year.
The bet: as work moves entirely to the cloud, the old network perimeter (firewalls, VPNs) becomes irrelevant, and Netskope becomes the new perimeter.
THE PRODUCTS
Netskope Intelligent SSE (Security Service Edge), Netskope CASB, Netskope Next Gen SWG, Netskope ZTNA (Zero Trust), Netskope DLP, NewEdge (global network)
HOW THEY GREW
Become the independent SASE leader. Netskope positions itself as the pure-play SASE vendor — not beholden to legacy networking or firewall products like Palo Alto or Cisco.
It invests heavily in the NewEdge network, its own global infrastructure of data centers, to deliver security with low latency. After raising $1.4 billion privately at a $7.5 billion valuation in 2021, it went public on the Nasdaq on 18 September 2025, pricing at $19 a share to raise $908 million and closing its first day up 18% at an $8.6 billion market cap.
The offering was more than 20 times oversubscribed.
THE HARD PART
Competing against Zscaler and Palo Alto Networks, both larger and with deeper pockets. Zscaler in particular has been the SASE market leader since its own 2018 IPO.
The SASE market is also consolidating fast, with networking vendors (Cisco, VMware) and security vendors (Palo Alto, Fortinet) all building competing products. Now that Netskope is public, the pressure shifts from winning deals quietly to hitting quarterly numbers in front of everyone.
