PandaDoc is the Belarusian-born document automation platform that competes with DocuSign by offering proposals, quotes, contracts, and e-signatures in one tool. Mikita Mikado built it for sales teams who were sick of switching between five different apps to send a proposal. $100 million raised, 50,000+ customers, and proof that a company started by two guys from Belarus can compete with a NASDAQ-listed giant.

www.pandadoc.comTHE ORIGIN STORY
Mikita Mikado and Serge Barysiuk founded PandaDoc in 2013 from Belarus, later relocating to San Francisco. They noticed that sales teams used one tool for creating proposals, another for getting approvals, another for e-signatures, and another for tracking.
It was absurd.
PandaDoc combined all of these into a single platform: create a proposal, get it approved internally, send it for signature, and track when the recipient opens it. The all-in-one approach resonated immediately with sales teams at SMBs.
WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO
Freemium SaaS model. Free tier includes basic e-signatures.
Paid plans from $19/user/month include document creation, templates, and workflows. Enterprise plans add advanced features like CRM integrations and content libraries.
50,000+ customers across SMB and mid-market.
THE PRODUCTS
Document creation with templates and drag-and-drop editor. E-signatures.
Proposal and quote generation. CPQ (configure, price, quote) for sales.
Payments collection at signing. Document analytics (open rates, time spent on each page).
CRM integrations.
HOW THEY GREW
Product-led growth with a free tier that converts to paid. Strong SEO around terms like "proposal software" and "document automation." Deep CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive) made PandaDoc part of the existing sales workflow rather than a separate tool.
THE HARD PART
DocuSign’s brand dominance in e-signatures means PandaDoc has to fight for recognition. The all-in-one value prop is strong but harder to explain than "we do e-signatures." Moving upmarket into enterprise competes with Ironclad and Conga.
