Tome lets you create entire presentations, documents, and visual stories using AI — type a prompt, and it generates a polished multi-page document with text, images, and layouts. While Beautiful.ai automates the design, Tome automates the content too. It is the first tool that can create a complete investor pitch or project proposal from a single sentence. Whether AI-generated presentations are actually good is debatable. Whether people want them is not — Tome grew to 16 million users in its first year.

tome.appTHE ORIGIN STORY
Keith Peiris (former Instagram and Meta product lead) and Henri Liriani founded Tome in 2020 to reimagine how people communicate ideas. They saw that presentations and documents were stuck in the PowerPoint era — rigid slides with bullet points — while AI was getting good enough to generate both content and design simultaneously.
Tome launched in late 2022 (timed with the GPT-3.5/4 era) and hit 16 million users within a year. The product generates complete narratives — not just slides — with AI-written text, AI-generated images, and automatic layouts.
WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO
Freemium SaaS. Free tier with limited AI credits.
Pro plan at $10/month for more AI generation and features. Teams and enterprise plans for organizations.
Revenue scales with AI usage and team adoption.
THE PRODUCTS
Tome AI Storytelling (generate complete presentations from prompts). AI Image Generation (built-in image creation).
AI Text Writing (content generation for each section). Templates and Themes.
Embedding (embed Tome pages anywhere). Analytics (track engagement).
HOW THEY GREW
Viral adoption during the AI hype cycle. Tome launched at the perfect moment — when ChatGPT was making everyone curious about AI tools.
The product spread virally on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Product Hunt. The visual quality and speed (create a presentation in 60 seconds) made it irresistible for social media demos.
THE HARD PART
Retention after the initial wow factor. Many users try Tome once, share the output, and then go back to Google Slides or PowerPoint.
The AI-generated content is impressive but often generic — not specific enough for high-stakes business presentations. Competition from established tools adding AI features (Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint, Canva's AI).
