DANICA PATRICK
Breaking barriers in NASCAR and IndyCar — and turning motorsport fame into a serious media and wine business
Danica Patrick went to Europe at 16 to race cars professionally, became the only woman to win an IndyCar race, led the Indianapolis 500 — the most iconic race in America — for multiple laps, and then retired to build a Napa Valley wine brand and a media company. She did it all without inheriting anything, without a famous family name, and without anyone making it easy. The most self-made woman in American motorsport.

CAREER & BACKGROUND
Danica Patrick became the most successful woman in the history of American open-wheel racing. She is the only woman to win an IndyCar Series race (2008 Indy Japan 300), and she led the Indianapolis 500 for multiple laps in 2005 — the most laps ever led by a woman in the race's history.
She moved to NASCAR, became the first woman to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole (2013 Daytona 500). She retired from racing in 2018.
Since then she has built Somnium Wine — a Napa Valley wine brand — launched a podcast and media company, written a bestselling book, and become a prolific speaker and investor. She has invested in health and wellness brands, fitness technology, and female-founded companies.
She is also one of the clearest examples of an athlete turning motorsport celebrity into sustainable business.

INVESTING STYLE & PHILOSOPHY
Consumer brand building and wellness investing. Patrick invests in companies aligned with her health, fitness, and lifestyle brand.
She is building Somnium Wine as a long-term asset — focusing on small-production, high-quality Napa Valley wine that commands premium prices. Her approach to business is similar to her racing: disciplined, research-heavy, willing to take risks others won't.

Money Habits
Works out every day — known for extreme fitness discipline. Built her brand on authentic health and wellness content.
Does not overspend on lifestyle relative to her earnings. Reinvests heavily into Somnium Wine and media businesses.
One of the most entrepreneurially active retired athletes in American sport.
BIGGEST WIN
Somnium Wine. Launched in 2016 and now producing highly rated Napa Cabernets, the brand trades on her reputation for seriousness and quality.
Premium wine is one of the most durable luxury consumer categories. Done right, it is a generational asset.
BIGGEST MISTAKE
Her racing career was commercially extraordinary but ultimately limited by the reality that she was competing against drivers with stronger teams and cars. Her final years in NASCAR produced fewer competitive results than her peak IndyCar years.
The timing of her NASCAR move — away from IndyCar where she was strongest — is one most analysts consider a strategic error.
FINANCIAL PHILOSOPHY
Your brand is your most valuable business asset. Build it intentionally.
Everything else you do — products, investments, partnerships — either adds to it or subtracts from it. Never do a deal that confuses people about who you are.
FAMILY & PERSONAL LIFE
Was engaged to Aaron Rodgers (2018–2020). Private since.
Previously married to Paul Edward Hospenthal (2005–2013).
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree studies (did not complete) — went to Europe at 16 to race professionally.

QUOTES (5)
Your brand is built in the decisions nobody sees — in training, in the choices you make about what you stand for. The public just sees the result.
People told me women couldn't race at the front. I just needed one win to prove that was about the car, not the driver.
Building Somnium Wine is the same as racing. It takes years of preparation, the results are not immediate, and the details matter enormously.
I left school at 16 to race in Europe. Most people thought I was crazy. Most of the best decisions of my life looked crazy at the time.
Health is the ultimate investment. Everything else you build depends on it. I have never met a successful person who neglected their body long-term and got away with it.
