A visual editor that lets non-developers build and edit web pages on top of any codebase — without touching code. Builder.io sits on top of React, Next.js, Angular, or whatever framework your developers use, and gives marketing teams a drag-and-drop editor to create and update pages. It's the peace treaty between developers who hate when marketers ask for code changes, and marketers who hate waiting three weeks for a button color change. Raised $97 million. Used by major brands. The Figma-to-code bridge that actually works.

www.builder.ioTHE ORIGIN STORY
Steve Sewell was building e-commerce sites and saw the same problem everywhere: developers built the site, then marketing teams needed to make changes but couldn't without developer help. Content management systems existed, but they were either too simple (WordPress) or too developer-centric (headless CMSs).
In 2017, Sewell founded Builder.io to create a visual editor that works with any existing tech stack — a drag-and-drop interface that generates real React/Next.js/Angular code.
WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO
SaaS subscriptions. Free tier for small projects.
Growth plans at $39-$119/month. Enterprise plans for large organizations.
Revenue scales with the number of sites and the volume of content created. The visual editor generates clean code that integrates with existing developer workflows.
THE PRODUCTS
Visual CMS — drag-and-drop page building on top of any framework. A/B Testing — visual experimentation without developer involvement.
Personalization — targeted content for different user segments. Qwik — open-source web framework for instant-loading sites.
Mitosis — open-source tool to write components once and compile to any framework.
HOW THEY GREW
Framework-agnostic approach. Unlike competitors that require specific frameworks, Builder.io works with React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, Svelte, and more.
This flexibility meant it could be adopted by any development team. The open-source Qwik framework (also created by Builder.io's team) drove developer awareness.
THE HARD PART
Competition from Webflow (visual building), Contentful (headless CMS), and Vercel's visual editing tools. The market for visual editing is crowded, and each competitor has a different approach.
Convincing developers that a visual editor won't create messy code is an ongoing challenge.
