CloudTalk is a call-center phone system built by two guys from Slovakia who decided Silicon Valley did not own the category. Martin Malych and Viktor Vanek started it in 2016 in Bratislava. By January 2024 they had pulled in a $28 million Series B, unusual for a company that far from the usual startup hubs. It now runs voice and AI calling for thousands of sales and support teams. Proof that great software does not need a San Francisco zip code.

Martin Malych and Viktor Vanek launched CloudTalk in 2016 out of Bratislava, Slovakia. They saw the same problem hitting small businesses everywhere.
Call-center software was expensive, ugly, and built for giant corporations. Setting up a phone team meant hardware, contracts, and IT headaches.
CloudTalk stripped all that away. It was a cloud call center you could run from a browser, connect to your CRM, and scale up or down in a day.
WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO
Businesses pay CloudTalk a monthly subscription for each agent using the system. That buys them a full cloud phone setup with call routing, recording, analytics, and international numbers.
There is no hardware to buy. Support and sales teams are the main customers.
The revenue grows as companies add agents and turn on the AI features. In plain terms, CloudTalk rents out a modern call center by the seat.
THE PRODUCTS
The main product is the CloudTalk cloud call center, a browser-based phone system for sales and support teams. It handles inbound and outbound calls, smart routing, IVR menus, recording, and detailed analytics.
In 2024 the company pushed into CloudTalk AI, which adds automatic transcription, call summaries, sentiment tracking, and coaching. It offers local phone numbers in more than 160 countries.
Everything is designed to plug into the CRM a team already runs.
HOW THEY GREW
CloudTalk leaned hard on integrations and content. It built more than 30 one-click connections to tools like HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, and Zendesk.
That made it an easy add-on rather than a rip-and-replace decision. It also poured effort into SEO and comparison pages, ranking for the exact searches buyers type when hunting for call software.
Being based in Slovakia kept costs low, so it could compete on price. The 2024 push into AI calling gave it a fresh hook.
THE HARD PART
CloudTalk is fighting a war on two fronts. On one side sit the giants like RingCentral and Five9 with huge budgets.
On the other are nimble rivals like Aircall, JustCall, and Dialpad chasing the same small and mid-size teams. Standing out is hard when everyone now claims to do AI calling.
Being headquartered in Bratislava also makes hiring and fundraising tougher than it would be in London or New York. The $28 million Series B helps, but it is small next to what some competitors have banked.
