JUSTCALL

Netfigo Verdict
on JustCall

JustCall is the phone system your sales team actually uses instead of complaining about. It started in 2016 as one product inside SaaS Labs, the company Gaurav Sharma built across Delhi and Palo Alto. Sequoia Capital India led a $42 million round in early 2022, which tells you the big money saw a real business here. Today more than 6,000 companies run their calls, texts, and WhatsApp through it across 70-plus countries. Not flashy. Just quietly everywhere.

THE ORIGIN STORY

Gaurav Sharma founded SaaS Labs in 2016 with a simple annoyance in mind. Business phone software was clunky, expensive, and built for big enterprises with IT departments.

Small sales and support teams got stuck with tools they hated. JustCall was the answer.

It was a cloud phone system you could set up in minutes, with no hardware and no telecom contract. It plugged straight into the CRMs teams already used, like HubSpot and Salesforce.

That CRM-first approach is what made it stick.

WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO

Companies pay JustCall a monthly fee per user to run their business calls and texts in the cloud. No desk phones.

No wiring. You log in, pick a number in any of 70-plus countries, and start dialing.

It handles voice, SMS, MMS, and WhatsApp in one place. The money comes from subscriptions, and it grows as teams add seats and buy the AI add-ons.

Think of it as renting a full phone department instead of building one.

THE PRODUCTS

The core product is JustCall, a cloud phone system for sales and support teams. On top of that sits JustCall IQ, which listens to calls and gives reps live coaching, scripts, and sentiment analysis.

There is also JustCall AI, which handles transcription, call scoring, and automation. SaaS Labs, the parent, builds other tools too, including Helpwise for shared inboxes and CallPage for callback widgets.

But JustCall is the flagship that carries the name.

HOW THEY GREW

JustCall grew by living inside other people's software. Instead of asking sales reps to switch tools, it built deep integrations with more than 100 apps like Salesforce, HubSpot, and Pipedrive.

A rep could click a phone number in their CRM and JustCall dialed it. Every call and text logged itself automatically.

That killed the busywork reps hate. Word spread through sales teams, and the product sold itself one integration at a time.

THE HARD PART

The cloud calling space is brutally crowded. JustCall fights Aircall, Dialpad, RingCentral, and Twilio-powered upstarts for the same customers.

Most of those rivals have raised far more money. The other hard part is call quality and reliability.

When a phone system drops calls, customers leave fast and loudly. JustCall has to keep voice rock-solid across dozens of countries while adding AI features that nobody has fully figured out yet.

Series B

WHO BACKED THEM

The backing came through SaaS Labs, the parent company. Base10 Partners and Eight Roads Ventures led a $17 million Series A in October 2021.

A few months later, in January 2022, Sequoia Capital India, now called Peak XV Partners, led a $42 million round. In total SaaS Labs has raised around $73 million.

Sequoia writing the big check was the signal that JustCall had graduated from scrappy tool to serious contender.
