We changed our license from BSD to BSL and the open-source purists lost their minds. But the alternative was watching AWS offer Sentry as a service and collect the revenue. Pragmatism beats ideology.

Our technology is so efficient that we can license our powertrain to other automakers and they'd still come out ahead. The motor, the inverter, the battery pack — every component is best-in-class. That's our insurance policy.

The license change was hard. The community was angry. But we can't let AWS sell our free tool as a managed service forever.
